At a glance

Inventex was a US VC-backed legaltech startup building a suite of B2B and B2C products across multiple practice areas - IP, class action, property law, and family law. Our goal was to turn complex legal workflows into AI-first, self-serve digital experiences overseen by real lawyers, combining customer-facing intake and guidance with attorney dashboards and tools.

My role: Owned frontend architecture and UX across a multi-product suite; shipped fast through repeated pivots by building reusable product patterns and shared stack primitives; maintained strong delivery quality via CI/CD and release discipline; implemented security/compliance essentials (RBAC, audit logging; contributed to SOC 2 Type I in-scope controls); instrumented product analytics and user behavior tracking to guide product iteration; and raised baseline accessibility to WCAG 2 standards across the suite.

Case Study

IP Drafting Platform

Inventors and IP lawyers uploaded or connected source materials (docs, tickets, repos, drawings). The system analyzed inputs against public patent databases and generated invention disclosures and patent drafts using LLM pipelines.

Challenge 01

Turning messy evidence into addressable facts

UX

Patentability analysis requires claim-like, referenced, addressable facts, but inventors provide messy, multi-format evidence - docs, tickets, repos, drawings.

Patentability analysis requires claim-like, referenced, addressable facts, but inventors provide messy, multi-format evidence - docs, tickets, repos, drawings.

Solution - we built a traceable source-document system with stable anchors, bidirectional links between extracted entities and their exact sources, and mapping between visual evidence and text - so findings were fully addressable and auditable.

My role - define the core data models for source documents, references/anchors, and entities, and assist with the database schema to ensure every label and citation could be traced back to its source.

AI drafts that hold up to MS Word-level editing

UX

LLM-generated drafts needed human correction without losing structure.

Solution - a human-in-the-loop UI system where inventors could edit and augment generated content, accept or reject extracted details, and add missing pieces - feeding back into the structured invention record.

My role - end-to-end UX and frontend architecture for the source navigation/review system and the patent drafting/editor experience (concept, design, implementation), plus the data model and API contracts. Attorneys expected MS Word-level editing and navigation, so I designed and built a high-fidelity WYSIWYG editor tailored to invention disclosures and patent drafts - structured sections, reference/citation insertion, highlighting and reference tracing, AI-assisted editing - all in real-time connection to the backend.
